Orleans Star : Beacon Hill hosts fun fair tomorrow
The Beacon Hill North Community Association will be hosting a fun-filled day in an effort to bring the community together to help the Beacon Learning Centre.
On Satuday, Nov. 28, community volunteers will transform Colonel By Secondary School into a fair, complete with a magician, bouncy castle, food and games. There will also be tae-kwondo, gymnastics and other presentations.
For those looking to get a head start on holiday shopping, the event will also feature a craft sale and, for younger shoppers, a kid’s-only holiday store.
This will be the second year for the community fair. According to BHNCA president Tim Tierney, a smaller fun fair was held last year by the Beacon Learning Centre (BLC) to raise money for its expansion.
Tierney said this year he approached the learning centre and suggested the community association use its large network to help raise funds for the new BLC building, which will see construction start soon. As a result, tomorrow’s fair promises to be bigger than the inaugural event.
Tierney indicated he’s looking forward to seeing residents out supporting a community initiative.
“Our Canada Day in the park was a great success,” he wrote in an e-mail to the Star, adding he hopes the fun fair will have the same success.
The Beacon Hill Family Fun and Craft Fair takes place Saturday, Nov. 28, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Colonel By Secondary School.
