 EastOttawa.ca : Another power outage scheduled for Thursday

A "brief" power outage is scheduled for Beacon Hill residents on Thursday, April 23, in order to upgrade the Shefford Road substation that caught on fire last month, according to Nathan Benson, spokesperson for Hydro Ottawa.

"There are efforts underway to repair and replace the equipment that was damaged," he said, explaining that after the March blaze, Hydro Ottawa installed a mobile transformer unit that has been supplying power to 2,000 customers.

Benson said this unit will be replaced by a "more robust temporary solution" within the next few days, which should "provide greater stability" to their distribution area. He added that this will require a power shut down on Thursday between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., which could also affect customers outside the Beacon Hill area.
